Maui Dermatology
Maui Dermatology opened a state-of-the-art dermatology office in Kahului in April of 2006.
After 20 years of teaching and practicing dermatology in Houston at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Dr. Knox closed his highly respected office to devote his full time and energy to Maui. He was fortunate to work with his father who held every major honor in dermatology including being chairman of the American Board of Dermatology and president of the American Dermatology Association. Like his father, the majority of his practice involves treating the effects of sun damage i.e. skin cancer, aging, moles, etc. While attending a seminar six years ago, he met a Maui girl. Choosing to live in Hawaii versus Texas was an easy choice after he married. Dr. Knox is board-certified in dermatology and has a Master of Public Health involving the environment and toxicology.
Any changing lesion or new lesion that has been present more than one month should be checked by a dermatologist. The word dermatology means the study of skin and has nothing to do with being trained. Dermatologist means formal training has been completed and a board certification means the doctor has the highest credentials to treat skin conditions. Yearly complete check ups are recommended.
